Apply NowRoderico V. Bolo, of Colegio de Sto. Tomas-Recoletos Batch 1988, is now a marine biologist whose extensive work on coastal resource management and marine conservation has made significant impacts in Southern Negros.
Bolo spoke to senior high school students about marine biology as a career, emphasizing the importance of marine resource conservation. He highlighted that marine biology is not a popular career path compared to medical courses, but described the career as "one big adventure that requires a relentless passion for the ocean."
"Students should consider becoming a marine biologist because of the dwindling interest in marine resource conservation and the effects of the changing climate," Bolo shared during his presentation.
During his visit, Bolo shared insights from his three-decade career as a technical point person in marine conservation efforts for Southern Negros. The presentation was part of CST-R's Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Updates and Learning Insights series.
The event concluded with Bolo receiving a certificate and token from his high school classmate, Rev. Fr. Joel Alve, OAR, who is now the school's director and principal.
